What the data says

1. The format was copied in hours, not weeks — but not in the first hours. 193 of 509 domains carry a public registration timestamp. The first was bought 12.7 hours after outbid.lol went live; 22 followed within a day and 189 within two, peaking at 20 in one hour.
2. The money did not follow. outbid.lol has taken $258,660, 42.9% of the total. Everything built after it has taken $344,638 put together.
3. Clone earnings are as concentrated as the format itself. The top ten clones hold 90.0% of all clone money.
4. A typical clone earns pocket change. Median $20.94; 265 of 332 measurable clones have taken under $100.
5. Being early is the whole game. The earliest quarter of the wave has taken $10,268; the last quarter, $1,234.

A sample is written down every fifteen minutes and no sample is ever edited, so this chart is a record rather than a redrawing.

“Dollars found” is the sum of what the indexed boards say they have taken, not a measure of the format’s growth: the line jumps when a sweep finds boards that had already been earning for a day, and a board whose figure cannot be read contributes nothing. It is a floor on what has changed hands, and it rises both because these boards take money and because we keep finding more of them.

How fast were the clones built?

Slower to start than the story suggests, then all at once. outbid.lol first served a page at Aug 19, 2026, 19:41 UTC (its domain had been bought 1.9 hours earlier, at Aug 19, 2026, 17:47 UTC). The first domain that anyone bought in order to copy it — out of every board in this directory and every dead, parked and rejected candidate checked alongside them — came 12.7 hours later. After that the copying is genuinely fast: 22 domains inside the first day, 189 inside two, and 20 in the single busiest hour, one every 3 minutes.

What the first flat stretch is, and is not

It is not a claim that nobody had copied outbid.lol yet. It is a claim about domains: for roughly half a day, nobody who copied it bought a name for it. A clone thrown onto a free vercel.app or pages.dev subdomain never touches a registry and hides under its host’s wildcard certificate, so it is invisible to everything this page measures. One board in this directory is on such a subdomain; there may have been others that morning that nobody kept.

The right-hand end of the chart is cut off by the calendar, not by the trend: it stops at the newest domain this directory has found so far, and boards registered after that have not been discovered yet.

What does a typical clone make?

The median measurable clone has taken $20.94. That is the honest headline number, and it is nothing like the average of $1,038, which one or two outliers drag upward past almost every board in the set. 111 clones have taken under $10; 32 have never taken a payment.

Does being early pay?

Yes, and by a margin that dwarfs every other factor measured here. Sorting the dated clones by when their domain was registered and cutting them into four equal groups, the earliest quarter has taken $10,268 between them and the last quarter $1,234. The gap is not a few days of head start; the whole wave is 49 hours wide.

What do they rank?

The original ranks websites, and most copies kept that. The rest re-aimed the same mechanic at whatever their author already cared about — X profiles, AI agents, tokens, games, whole countries on a map. Money follows the same order as the count only loosely; the categories with the fewest boards are not the poorest.

How do they take the money?

Card checkout is the default and crypto is the loud minority. Of the boards that state a rail, Stripe is the most common (18 boards); the rest run on stablecoins, Solana, Lightning, Monero, UPI and an agent-payment protocol that will not sell to humans at all. Most boards state a minimum bid of a dollar or less, which is the point: the format works by making the first bid trivial and the last one expensive.

Where did the domains come from?

Overwhelmingly from one top-level domain and a handful of cheap registrars. 386 of 509 boards are on .lol, which is what happens when a format spreads by imitation of a name as much as of an idea. NameCheap registered 56 of them.

How many are still up?

Almost all of the ones that have been re-checked. Every listed board is re-fetched on a schedule and re-read for a ranked price ladder: of the 509 checked so far, 443 still show one and 66 do not. The other 0 were verified when they were listed and have not come round again yet, so they are reported as unchecked rather than as alive.

A board that fails twice running is delisted, which is why this directory shrinks as well as grows. Two days is far too early to say anything about how many of these survive the month — that is a number this page will be able to answer later and cannot answer now.

Every board, with its numbers

All 509 verified boards, richest first. “Taken” is each board’s own published figure in its own currency, printed exactly as the board states it; “domain bought” is the registry timestamp and the hours between it and outbid.lol’s. Blank cells are numbers the board does not publish.

How this was measured

Three independent sources, none of them a survey and none of them an estimate.

• Which sites count. A candidate is fetched from the edge and read for a ranked price ladder — #1 … $N, #2 … $M — alongside the vocabulary of bidding. Pages that ship no HTML are rendered in a headless browser and judged on what the browser saw. Click-ranked boards, fixed-price pixel grids and revenue leaderboards are rejected: the money has to buy the rank.
• When each one appeared. RDAP, the public registry protocol that replaced WHOIS, gives the exact second a domain was registered. Every date here was read from two independent RDAP endpoints and they agree exactly; a sample was cross-checked a third way, against the not_before of each site’s first published TLS certificate in the Certificate Transparency logs, which lands within about two hours of the registry timestamp either side. 316 of 509 domains sit in registries that will not answer, and they are excluded from every timing figure rather than guessed at.
• What each one has taken. Each board’s own published total, read off its page (or its stats endpoint) and preferred over any figure we could compute ourselves. Where a board publishes no total, the standing bid ladder is summed and the figure is marked as a floor. Foreign currencies are converted at fixed rates recorded on the day of measurement.

What these numbers cannot tell you

• Revenue is what boards claim, not what they banked. Nothing here is audited. A board that inflates its counter will be reported at its inflated figure. Boards whose displayed figures are not their own takings are left out of every money figure here. They stay in the census, because they are real boards, and their rows read “not counted” rather than “not readable”. That is 6 boards at the moment: freeoutbid.lol (its board is one paid bid and a ladder of free listings, priced but never sold), outbidder.lol (its leaderboard is a copy of outbid.lol’s, down to the bids), outbidsocial.com (its own page says it is in free launch mode, so nothing on its board was paid for), outfake.lol (its own rules call the rows unpaid reference listings, filled in because no paid bid is active), underbid.lol (displays totals its own board does not support), viralsites.fyi (its total is what the 128 sites it tracks are estimated to have earned, not what it has taken).
• 176 boards cannot be read at all and are absent from every money figure. They are not counted as zero, so the totals above are floors.
• The census is a floor too. This is every board that has been found, not every board that exists; the count has risen with every sweep.
• Money is cumulative, not current. Most of these boards let a bid stand forever, so their totals only go up and say nothing about whether anyone is still bidding this week.
• The last hours of the chart are incomplete by construction: a domain registered an hour ago has not been discovered yet.
• A clone that never bought a domain is invisible here. Deployed to a free vercel.app or pages.dev subdomain, it leaves no registry record and no certificate of its own. Every timing claim on this page is about domains, and is a floor on how fast people actually copied the format.
• Hour zero is a measurement, not a press release. It is the first TLS certificate outbid.lol published, which is when it demonstrably started serving. Its own About page says it launched at “11:08 PM” and names no timezone, so that sentence is quoted here and used for nothing that requires arithmetic.
